I try to run 5 miles every other day on a treadmill. Will these shoes provide me proper support?

They're indoor soccer shoes called Air Zoom Control II:

Also I have a pair of these:

Stick with dedicated running shoes.

My suggestion would be to go to a dedicated running store (not a catalog or chain store, ie: footlocker, finish line, or any brand outlets) for your first pair. A good running shoe must fit your foot correctly, and you are more likely to find one at a dedicated running store. A good sales associate will be able to look at your pronation (the way your foot rolls as it strikes the ground) and be able to help in the selection of a shoe that fits your foot.

I didn't do this at first, and went with a trainer that didn't fit my foot as well as it could, and I ended up with some discomfort after going a couple miles. Once I was fitted with a more appropriate shoe, the pain was gone. And at least try to go for a short jog when trying on the shoe, you find out a lot more about fit and comfort than you do just walking around the store in the shoe.

Good luck in your search..

Hey-

I'm a long time runner (turned triathlete), I used to play quite a bit of soccer as well (indoor and out). Those look like some fairly nice shoes which will be great for soccer. They will work for running (I mean, they were designed for a running sport) but I would not recommend using them. I would save those shoes for your soccer games and practice and buy some dedicated running shoes. You are doing some pretty heavy running and you should probably have some shoes that you will use solely for that purpose. Running shoes are only good for about 500 miles and by having a pair of sneakers that are designed for running (not cross training or walking) you will be sure to get the most amount of work out of them. I have paid the price for using shoes not designed for running in injuries to my ankles, feet, and shins. Do yourself a favor and buy a nice pair of running shoes, don't skimp ont he price, they'll cost you at least $40-60.

Football shoes aren't running shoes. Running shoes are running shoes. They have a bigger sole and more cushioning. You can get them cheaply and they are still fine.

I run and I have a pair of Adidas running shoes which cost me £50 ($71).

I once turned up to training in soccer shoes once and was told to go home and change them because they would screw up my feet....(may have been an exaggeration on my coaches part)

I would probably not use any of them because they don't give you enough support. I am a runner and all of my shoes are brooks and my sister likes adidas and my other sister and my dad like asics so maybe try them if you want new shoes!!!!!

well i agree with the first guy, but I have been told to not purchase any running shoe under $90. anything under that isn't going to be a true running shoe. and i would look into a running store in your city they will be able to fit you with a shoe more to your running style.
