Well just start a training schedule and keep to it, I do a 12 mile run on Sundays all the time that are probably just as nasty lol. To prepare for this I would say follow this week schedule
Mondays and Fridays: Easy days, do a couple miles but I stress easy!
Tuesdays and Thursdays: Moderate Days, these are ok your not full out but its not THAT easy.
Wednesdays and Saturdays: Work your A off! This will be the beef of your training.
Sundays: Long run, intensity was yesterday so today just do a loooooong run.
The reason I would avoid the same 4 miles everyday is because, I know it gets boring. So if you stick to this, I can promise you you will be fit to run that man.
Any other questions just ask :D.
Good Luck!

You're question is way too late! In order for it to make much difference at all, you needed to start training at least 3 months ago, allowing a couple weeks before the race to taper after all the hard work. I think it's pretty obvious. Run a lot of hills for as long as you possibly can and get some distance in. Stretch a LOT (especially glutes/hammy's) and ice then heat then ice (back and forth) your glutes afterward. Eat plenty of carbs before you run and protein after. Good luck and have fun! By the way, mega-hilly (2000 to 3000 ft) half marathon trail runs are my specialty!

just a tip ~~
Tend to do your workouts outside. Try to match the terrain in your training session like the things you mentioned about the hilly, dirt road. It would be best to stick with marco's training schedule.
