basically next year in around june i will be sprinting in the 200m race. i want to know to prepare myself seeing as its a long way away. one common problem i have noticed with amateur sprinters of past sports days for the race was that when they run, they lose breath before the ending of the bend. so please this is my last sports day ever so can anybody help me as i want to achieve gold. [plus these people are slow they get about 29.9 only there is one fast girl] am 14 in year 10 thanks

I myself run the 200 m. I only get 28 seconds flat right now but havn't timed myself since last season track!

One thing keep your arms 90 degree angles, and hands straight, and I suggest for any sprinting race doing some plyplyometrics is a GREAT idea.

also do a lot of leg lifts/weight training

As for breathing, I do not know how I brethed during it, i can remember, though, feeling like I was pushing breathing on the end of the bend, though. The boys on our team would do the thing where there cheeks were -full and round- of air, and they breathed in and out very very fast.I suppose holding your mouth like that lets you take in and push out air quickly, and get it faster if done correctley. but I wouldn't know. you could test it.

You have to train for the distance

A strength-- B-endurance

So gain strength by bounding say through a sand pit then sprint 20/30 Mt's sit ups with a medicine ball I have 15 year old's training with a 5kg ball 40/50 sit ups and throws also do some work on core strength (this will get you running in a straight line and not pulling from side to side) watch some good runners on you tube and watch there arms then practice how they look in front of a mirror

Then your running training should be running multiple 250's at 85% speed start of with maybe 3 or 4

If you reach say 150Mt's and find you are slowing down stop make a mental note of your distance then run that distance until you are comfortable with it then increase the distance until you are running the 250 Mt's comfortably then about mid jan load your endurance and strength with specific speed drills (now is the time to join an athletics club" the sprints squad", we are now going into winter training for next years athletics season)

Don't eat at least an hour before your exercises. I'm in cross country and track, and I was really embarrassed once because I threw up at a track meet. So, just don't eat at least an hour before you eat, and keep running and practicing on your own time. This will help a lot. If you get hungry, try something like a granola bar and make sure you drink some water with it. If you do this, you won't have much problems anymore. Trust me, I know. ;) Hope this helps! Good luck!

under 30 seconds???!! are u kidding?? thats quick! i dunno about sprinting but i'm guessing u'll need to pace yourself if you're running out of steam. start strong then go all-out on the last 70m(you need to do some trial and error on when to go all out). other than that its practice,practice,practice...and rest. good luck!

Train, train and then train some more.
