Ive ran negative, positive, and even splits to set new prs or tie old prs so i currently have zero prefference. My pr sits at 1.54.01 and ran that with a 56 and 58 and i felt like i could possibly drop a little more in my kick. Before my next race im worndering if i should try neg, pos, or even split. My previous pr was a neg split (1.55.4, 58, 57ish) and the one before that was even at 1.55.9 (58ish, 58). What does the community think of the perfect 800m racing strategy for pr?

The 800 meter race is really about the conditions, your conditioning and competitors in a race. If you have a rabbit or someone pushing the pace it's easier to run. The second lap is really about anaerobic conditioning and maintaining your form and kick. If I were you it's about analyzing how to improve and seeing the splits you have run in the past for your races. Your goal is to break your latest PR of 154.01 whether negative or positive. Looks like most of the World records in the 800 were + splits since the 800 is considered a sprint at the elite level similar to the 400 meter race. World records are generally broken when a sprinter can maintain their speed and not lose as much at the finish line.

However to be the best runner you need to practice every race scenario. For instance, running last and pouncing at the end or responding when another runner takes the lead. Good luck!

the normal thought is to run even splits, but in reality people usually run a positive split.

You want to run as close to even as possible.

Unless you go out a little too slow it is very difficult to run a negative split.

Jim Ryan ran a negative split when he set a world record in the 800, but that is about the only one that I know of among elite runners.

do not bypass out too sluggish. A 6 seconds distinctive between the laps is a lot. bypass out a dash harder, like sixty six seconds after which you only run to your existence the final lap... Use all your means it somewhat is left. That worked fir me...
