Question:
Do we run faster with out tip-toes?

Yesterday at P.E which we played ultimate frissbe (which is actually extremely fun) I decided for the first time in my life run with my tip-toes; it just came to my mind that I wanted to. I've noticed that my speed increased quite a lot (I'm naturally fast), but some people even where shocked at my speed because I was able to get from the end of my field to the opponents in no less than 3 seconds. When I run with my heel and then tip toe I run fast, but not as fast as if I where to run with just my tip-toes. I also run low instead of high; someone said I ran like Shiek from SSB, which I thought was funny.

So is it true you run faster with tip toes or what?

The concept is to run on the "Balls of your feet". Your claim of "tip toes" is essentially the same thing. The answer: OF COURSE! :) When sprinting you need to be up on your toes so that you increase knee drive and forward speed. When running distance you will run more heel-to-toe.

Congrats! You are becoming faster. Keep running on your tip-toes ;)

You can not run on your tip toes. When people say run on your toes they are actually meaning to run on the mid foot, rather than foot planting on the heels.

The correct foot plant when sprinting is for the foot to contact the ground mid foot, in a pawing motion coming rearward at the speed you are moving forward, you land only slightly ahead of your center of gravity, If you land too far in front of your body you are braking before the foot passes the center of gravity. Running is a pushing motion, not a pulling motion.

Yes,running tip and midfoot increase speed.

Running with heels slows you down.
