About 4 blocks is a mile hun.

And to lose the weight you have to set a goal. Once you do that everyday you have to work to your overload (the best you can do), then do half that workout the next day then increase your overload the day after that. Keep this up and that weight will decrease butu over time. You have to keep your frequency up and your overloading.

And by the time you start fighting your stamina will be perfect. If you do your ab workouts every day and slowly increase the workouts, you should be seeing results within 2-3 weeks. Hope i helped.

Use Google earth to measure the distance your running. I use it when measuring my cross-country runs.

Defiantly run around the park every day if you can but remember not to over do it, if you feel you have pulled a muscle take a day or two off in till its fine again. Also if you are trying to loose weight don't starve your self, refrain form chocolate and sugary products, eat lots of vegetables and don't forget to keep a high intake of carbohydrates as that is where your energy comes from. If you don't eat enough carbs you will risk cannibalizing your own muscles for energy even when you still have fat to loose.

If you plan on joining a martial arts club don't worry too much about getting into shape as long as you are of average fitness, martial arts will work a lot more on your technique than your fitness so you can train your fitness as well as doing the martial arts.

Again with boxing, it will help you get fit and strong while doing the training, probably a good idea to restrain from fighting in till you are comfortable with your skill and fitness level.

Normally, 10 blocks is a mile. City standard anyway

Block sizes can vary. Try using gmap-pedometer on places you intend to train to get an idea of how long a mile is.

Also look into increasing your Lactate Threshold for stamina. HIIT, Fartlek, and endurance running can prepare you for that.

It really depends on the particular blocks.

You can plug your route in someplace like MapQuest and get an idea of the distance.

It's likely that somewhere in the 10 minute ballpark would be a mile for you.
